Openness refers to the weave or structure of the fabric, specifically the amount of open space between the fibers. It determines how much light, heat, and visibility the fabric allows through. The openness factor is usually expressed as a percentage, indicating the proportion of the fabric that is open.
For example:
- A high openness percentage (e.g., 10%) means more open space between the fibers, allowing more natural light and a clearer view outside while still providing some shade.
- A low openness percentage (e.g., 3%) means the fabric is more tightly woven, blocking more light and providing greater privacy, while reducing the view to the outside.
